POLAR WearLink+ Heart Rate Transmitter
~ Transmitter only, nothing else included
**
PLEASE NOTE
:
POLAR
now calls this the
H1 Heart Rate Sensor
. It is exactly the same product, just looks slightly different.
This is the predecessor of the
H1 Heart Rate Sensor
and is compatible with all of the same
POLAR
products and chest straps. The transmitter is in
"like new"
condition and has only been used a handful of times. We fully tested the sensor on a 34
km
bike ride with a
POLAR s625x
. A recent new lithium battery (
CR-2025
) is installed in the transmitter.

Changing your
POLAR WearLink+ Transmitter
battery
What you will need:
A very large slotted screwdriver
or
a nickel coin
An extremely fine knife blade point
or
a very fine dental pick
or
a miniature jeweler's slotted screwdriver
How-to:
The enemy of all
POLAR
products is humidity and moisture. The
POLAR WearLink
+
transmitter battery cap contains a rubber
O-Ring
which helps provide a water-proof sealed closure. Unfortunately this
O-Ring
accounts for the considerable difficulty in opening the battery cap in order to replace the
CR-2025
lithium battery which powers the
POLAR WearLink
+
transmitter.
The
POLAR WearLink
+
battery cap is NOT unscrewed like a jar lid or a bolt / screw. Trying to force the battery cap to unscrew around and around counter-clockwise will ONLY lead to grief and aggravation. The wide slot in the battery cap is only for turning the battery cap counter-clockwise a couple of
millimeters
from the
CLOSED
position to the
OPEN
position. Typically, the little arrow symbol on the cap does not line up exactly with the
OPEN
marking after turning, but reaches just short of lining up, a little to the right of the
OPEN
marking. This is normal and you should not grieve yourself trying to turn it a little further leftward for an exact
"lining up"
.
Once the cap is in the
OPEN
position, the cap is usually still very stiffly closed, but now able and ready to be opened. The next step is to gently pry the cap open with a very fine
"pick"
of some kind (
see above
). Before prying the cap open, however, you should execute the following technique which will make prying open the cap much easier to do.
Hold the
POLAR WearLink
+
transmitter in your palm with the battery-cap side facing you. Now take the thumb of your other hand and push down extremely hard on only one side of the battery cap, right near the edge. This will very slightly raise the edge of the cap on the opposite side, providing an extremely small opening or crack in which to insert your pick edge in order to pry the cap upwards.
Once the cap is off, note that the
CR-2025
coin battery rests on the underside of the cap with only the blank (-) side of the battery visible. The (+) side of the battery which has the manufacturer's labeling written on it is not visible. You need to install the new battery so it sits likewise in the cap with the (-) side facing you and visible, and the (+) side hidden against the backside of the battery cap.
Now you are ready to close the transmitter. Sit the battery cap back down in the transmitter with the arrow symbol lining up just to the right of the
OPEN
marking. Use your jumbo screwdriver or a nickel coin to first push down fairly hard on the battery cap, and then to turn it clockwise to the
CLOSED
position while maintaining the downward pressure.
A hand-held voltage meter (
volt meter
) can be an extremely helpful tool to show you the strength / energy remaining in a battery so that you may eliminate a drained or partially-drained battery as the source of problems with the functioning of your
POLAR
products. These can be found on
eBay
for cheap. You need a volt meter that has the two probe wires attached to it, one black to connect to the (-) side of a battery, and one red to connect to the (+) positive side of a battery.
