EXQUISITE BEAUTY from the Philippines
.  Collected by a diver in 45 feet of water, in sand under rubble, Samar Island, the Philippines.  Most of the miters I collected in Hawaii, I found at night in calm shallow water, by following sand trails and digging at the ends of them.  Of course, sometimes the beauty was already surfaced, so no digging was necessary, but most times it wasn't, but it was always a thrill to find some sort of gem hiding in the sand---at night you're
a little nervous though, since you can only see what is lit up in front of you and since falls are not uncommon at night, you're often wet and freezing (especially if there is a stiff breeze) you're trying to handle a flashlight, a look box, a goodie bag and
two
large cup of Starbucks coffee (Leanna made me carry hers, she needed both hands for her look box, or so she said...)  So you carry all that, while at the same time you stumble from one spot to another, hoping you will
not
step into water deeper than your pockets, (so that you won't short out your electric car-door opener, again) you wonder if you are crazy to be out there, you just know it's going to rain, again, and you worry what others will think if they see you, and yet---if you find something
, the colors of the shells are so vivid in the glow of a flashlight, wow, you never forget it!

.  Anyhow, as the photos show, this near-GEM beauty from the collection put together by a master, with its flawless, deeply grooved body, interesting pattern, nice spire and beautiful lip, is another terrific beauty that will look
fantastic
sitting on your shelf!

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on eBay show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
