    Description

Minutely detailed and lavishly illustrated, this deck plan of the French Line's post-war flagship S.S. PARIS of 1921 is actually two-plans-in-one: a page by page foldout plan, each page comprising one deck from the Sundeck to the lowest passenger deck and a one-sheet plan which unfolds to reveal a single-glance resumé of all the first class spaces. (See illustrations.)
The photo images indicate that the PARIS, although smaller than her successors, SS ILE DE FRANCE of 1927 and SS NORMANDIE of 1935, was absolutely the equal of these subsequent flagships in terms of luxury, comfort and beauty of detail. These photos reveal her Art Deco public spaces and cabins such as they were remade following a fire in 1929 which destroyed many of her original interiors.
A second fatal fire and subsequent capsizing at her dock in Le Havre in 1939 just weeks before the outbreak of World War II destroyed this beautiful ship.
    Rare.
