Description
This is a brand new AC Delco voltmeter for a 1968 or 1969 Camaro with console gauges...RPO option U17. Cars with this option would have come from the factory with an ammeter for the battery gauge. The voltmeter takes the place of the original ammeter.I bought this gauge in April of this year for my '68 because I had believed my original ammeter was broken and needed to be replaced. After researching how to test the ammeter, I found out that my ammeter was fine and that my problem was somewhere else......That being the case, I am keeping my original ammeter and no longer have a need for this voltmeter.
The voltmeter is connected differently than an ammeter but should be an easy process.
The connector that plugged on to the ammeter is no longer used.
The positive terminal of the voltmeter needs to be connected to a 12 volt source that is live when the key is in the "on" position. The negative terminal of the voltmeter needs to be grounded.
PLEASE VERIFY THIS !
To get your 12 volts with the key on, connect a short jumper wire from your voltmeter positive terminal to the positive terminal of either your temperature gauge or your fuel gauge which are just inches away. Then connect the negative terminal of the voltmeter to a ground source.
AGAIN, PLEASE VERIFY THAT !
