Vintage Art Deco Bronze Medal Paperweight Denmark 1930s
Lovely vintage art deco bronze medal or paperweight, Denmark, 1930s. Medal is approximately 3” x .5”, with silk and velvet lined presentation box. Excellent condition; medal shows normal patina and little wear; paper faux leather box is in overall excellent condition with some minor paper loss at edges and corners and one small flaw on front right edge (see picture); shows normal age. This seems to be an appreciation gift from a Danish insurance company, with images of two nude figures harvesting fruit from a tree on one side, and a harbor with a ship, city, sun, and moon on the other. The translation is roughly “The United Danish Life Insurance of Hafnia (Copenhagen) for appreciation of profitable business”, and I’m not sure that’s fully correct. This medal is unsigned, but is the work of a talented sculptor or metalsmith. A gorgeous example of Danish or European Art Deco metalware.
