Please enlarge the reverse of the badge for details. The karat is marked on the safety clasp on both the main badge and the filigree shield. The main badge is approximately 14 grams of 14 kt. gold. The filigree shield is approximately 2 grams of 10 karat gold. . This is a very special gold and ruby presentation Past President's badge for the Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic. Note the 3 rubies as drops from the pin bar ... these are about 5 mm each. Reverse reads " Presented to Nora Alice Fitzgerald by Winfield Scott WRC # 290 January 1926". The 1920s were the height of the WRC membership at nearly 200,000 so pieces like this could be afforded. Excellent condition. fine chain and second shield filigree pin with F, C & L.
